A prayer times display that keeps itself up to date
A moschee.io prayer times screen shows your community the right times all day: adhan and iqamah for all five prayers, the current time, a countdown to the next prayer and Jumu'ah. The times come straight from your prayer times settings. Change an iqamah there and the new time appears on every connected screen, with no USB stick and nobody fiddling with the TV.
Between prayers, your own content runs: announcements, events, donation projects with a QR code, a hadith of the day, Quran verses or a reminder to silence phones. Our guide to digital prayer times displays explains how to plan one.

Which hardware works?
You don't need a special player. The screen runs on hardware many mosques already have:
Smart TV: open the hosted screen address in the TV browser, for example on Samsung (Tizen), LG (webOS) or Hisense (Vidaa). For Samsung and LG there is also the moschee.io app in the Samsung App Store and the LG Content Store.
PC, Mac or mini PC: the desktop app for Windows, macOS and Linux runs full screen, keeps showing prayer times without internet and updates itself at night between 03:00 and 04:00.
Raspberry Pi with Moschee OS: a ready-made system image for Raspberry Pi 3, 4 and 5 that boots straight into the display. With a Pi for around €60, any TV with an HDMI port becomes a prayer times screen. Download the image from the setup page in your dashboard once it is offered there for your Pi model.
TVs differ in whether their browser or app restarts on its own after a power cut. If the screen must always come back by itself, the desktop app and Moschee OS are the more reliable choice. More in our post One mosque, every screen.
Set up in a few minutes
Here is how the first screen gets onto the wall:
In the dashboard, open Screens → Set up screen and start a client: hosted address, TV app, desktop app or Moschee OS.
The screen shows a short code and a QR code. Scan it with a phone where you are signed in as an admin, then approve the device.
Give the device a name such as “Prayer hall” or “Entrance” and assign it a playlist.
Choose a layout and decide what happens during prayer and the khutbah.
Pairing creates a display-only session: no admin login lives on the screen, and you can disconnect any device from the dashboard at any time. The setup guide covers each step in detail.
Layouts, iqamah countdown and quiet hours
Choose from five layouts: classic, split view, a style modelled on Mawaqit, focus with a large countdown, and a light board for bright prayer halls. All of them scale up to 4K, and portrait screens get a 9:16 version. Per device you can adjust the layout, font size and margin for TVs that crop the edges.
Around prayer, you decide whether the iqamah countdown shows as a banner or a badge, and whether the screen carries on, shows a notice or goes black during prayer or the Friday khutbah. Between Isha and Fajr it can rest; the desktop app and Raspberry Pi also switch the display off.
Playlists draw on 19 slide types, from the prayer schedule and Ramadan times to events and donation progress. The display can rotate between German, English, Arabic, French and Turkish, including right-to-left.
Calculate prayer times, upload them or import from Mawaqit
The screen shows the times you maintain in moschee.io. Have them calculated automatically for your location, upload your own calendar as a CSV file or enter them by hand.
If your mosque already uses Mawaqit, link it once and import prayer, iqamah and Jumu'ah times. Sync runs automatically every night, and your own changes to individual days are kept. The Mawaqit guide shows how.
Which plan includes screens?
Screens are included in every plan, including the free Prayer Times plan. The number of devices is never limited; the plans differ in how many playlists, slides and schedules you can create. After moving to a smaller plan, existing playlists keep playing.
How much does a prayer times display cost with moschee.io?
The software is included in every plan, including the free Prayer Times plan. More playlists, more slides and schedules come with the paid plans from €99 per month. You only need hardware if your TV isn't smart: a Raspberry Pi running Moschee OS costs around €60, once.
Does the screen work without internet?
Yes, with the desktop app and Moschee OS. Both cache their content, keep showing prayer times during an outage and sync again once the connection is back. For screens that must keep running through outages, we recommend these two options.
How many screens can a mosque connect?
As many as you need. The number of devices is not limited on any plan. Each screen can get its own playlist, for example for the entrance, prayer hall, sisters' area and youth room.
Can we import our prayer times from Mawaqit?
Yes. Under Prayer times → Settings, choose the Mawaqit import, search for your mosque and link it. Prayer, iqamah and Jumu'ah times are imported and synced every night. There is also a Mawaqit-style layout for the screen.
Do we need technical skills for Moschee OS?
No. Write the image to a microSD card (8 GB or larger) with Raspberry Pi Imager or balenaEtcher, connect the Pi to your Wi-Fi from your phone on first boot and scan the QR code on the TV. The system installs updates by itself.
